Obituary

Charles W. “Chuck” Owens

Charles W. “Chuck” Owens, born March 12, 1939, in Washington, Indiana, passed away on March 1, 2026, reuniting with the love of his life after 65 beautiful years of marriage.

Chuck spent his early years in Washington, Indiana, before moving to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he spent many of his formative years. He eventually made his home in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather — a good man whose quiet strength, steady work ethic, and deep love for his family defined his life.

Chuck worked as a machinist at Los Alamos National Laboratory for 36 years, where he was respected for his skill and dedication. Outside of work, music was one of his greatest joys. He was a founding member of the Silver Strings Band and also performed with the Whiskey River Band, sharing his love of music with family, friends, and the community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wiley Owens and Mary Pauline Owens.

Chuck is survived by his four children: Sherri (Gary), Chuck (Sammi), Rob (Colleen), and Brian (Wanda), along with many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his family finds comfort knowing he is once again with the love of his life — together where they always belonged.
