Charlotte Deloris Christensen

September 12, 1923 — April 19, 2011

"Her joy is complete!" Charlotte Christensen, 87, of Kirtland, was called home by Jesus on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, in Farmington. She was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Safford, Ariz. She devoted her entire life to caring for her family. She was dedicated to cooking, cleaning, sewing, gardening and painting. Charlotte endorsed and supported the activities of the NM State Society of American Medical Technologists. Last year, an honorary membership was conferred upon her. In her later years, she wrote a weekly column for the First Baptist Church's weekly newsletter, "Prayer to Share." Her deepest love was for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. From Him she learned her life's motto, "How can I help you?" Charlotte had a passion for reaching children for Jesus, and taught them in one way or another for 35 years. She was overjoyed when a small child with bright eyes would quietly slip their hand into hers and said, "Teacher, I accepted Jesus." She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Christensen; parents, Henry Lee Rose and Oma Rose Gleed; and a sister, Henrietta "Billie" Kay. She is survived by her son, David (Madeline) Christensen; daughter, Laurel Christensen; and granddaughter, Melissa (Dennis) Kittleson. Cremation will take place. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, at First Baptist Church of Farmington, 121 N. Auburn Ave. The Rev. Keith Berryman and the Rev. Larry Haslam will officiate. Inurnment will follow the services. The reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church. Charlotte said, "Flowers are beautiful, but a child's heart lasts forever." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Mexico Baptist Children's Home, Box 629, Portales, NM 88130. Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home 103 E.
