Christopher John Barela

Christopher J. Barela passed away unexpectedly November 25, 2025, He was born November 23, 1967, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Chris was a son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. The son of Manuel R. Barela and Carmen C. Gutierrez.

Chris graduated from West Mesa High School, Class of 85. Following his graduation, Chris pursued his dream to build his own business, Air Care of New Mexico.

Chris met his wife Frances celebrating their anniversary Valentines Day February 14th of 34 years. He raised two loving sons.

Preceded in death by his father Manuel Barela. Chris is survived by his mother Carmen Gutierrez(Danny); wife Frances Baldonado; sister Donna Blea(Charles); brother Richard Barela(Danette); sons Anthony Baldonado(Krista) and Christopher Barela; grandchildren, Gabriel Baldonado, Damien Baldonado and Adam Baldonado; Niece Tiffany(Chris); Nephews Manuel and Jacob(Alisha).

Chris was a devoted father and avid baseball player. He enjoyed basketball, football, bowling, golfing, camping and fishing. He excelled as a little league baseball pitcher playing for his team the Orioles, He was skilled in mechanics in which he often did maintenance on his own vehicles. He loved spending time outdoors, camping in the mountains and visiting lakes. He was an avid sports fan, attending baseball, football and basketball games. He was an all around handyman. Music was his motivation no matter what occasion, good tunes and singing were involved. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him
