Clarence D Mumme (Bud) was born on April 2, 1939 in Middletown, Iowa. He was one of six children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Irma, siblings Waunita, Thelma, and Perry; and wife and mother of his children, Judy Moffett. He is survived by his wife of 24 years Lena; children Brenda of Carthage, MO, Dena of Kansas City, KS, Ron and wife DebbieAnn of Albuquerque, NM, Ann and husband Carl of Tijeras, NM, and Debbie and husband Kevin of Edgewood, NM; grandchildren Tiffany, Brittany, Anthony, Ella, Kevin, Patrick and Caitlin; and great-grandchild Lillian. He served in the United States Navy and went on to a career in the electronics industry. He started with Bendix, went on to work at Sperry, and ended his career with Honeywell in Albuquerque, NM. He was most proud of the work he did designing gyro components for the B1 and B2 guidance systems, resulting in two patents. He was talented in many ways including designing and building his own 10,000 square foot round home in
Edgewood, NM. He later used his skills in carpentry, electronics and love for fixing things while volunteering at Habitat for Humanity Restore for 11 years. Since his absence at Restore, it has been reported that not a single lamp works. Throughout his life he had many passions. The one hobby he enjoyed most was teaching others straw bale gardening. He was always sure to send anyone who came to visit home with cherry tomatoes and zucchini. One of Lena’s dreams was to own a flower shop, together they made that dream a reality for 5 years in Cedar Crest, NM. Bud and Lena enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family. Together they took three trips to Europe, including their honeymoon, a pilgrimage and a family vacation. Bud enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. He was a simple man and a gift to everybody he met. It
is truly remarkable how much he accomplished in his 79 years. As a family we feel truly blessed to have had him for as long as we did.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Clarence to Presbyterian Cancer Foundation or Habitat of Humanity Restore.
