SPEAKMAN -- Clark "Sparkie", 79, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died July 11, 2010. He is survived by his spouse, Janet of 41 years; daughters, Diana Speakman and grandson Nathaniel Wimpy of Albuquerque, Lisa Pelzer and grandchildren Cara and Brandon Pelzer of Happy Valley, Oregon. After serving as Bernalillo County Fire Chief of Dist. 5, Clark retired as Sandoval County Fire Marshal after 13 years in 2005 and was active throughout the state for 54 years as an instructor and founding member of the UNM School of Medicine EMT program, Board of Director for NMIAAI, a member of the Governors, New Mexico Fire Planning Task Force, Board of Directors member of EMIFPA, International Association of Fire Chiefs SW Division, TVI (CNM) Advisory Committee for Fire Science, member of the Greater Jemez Corridor Wildland Urban Interface Organization, and an Adjunct Instructor for the NM Fire Fighters Training Academy in Socorro. In the beginning of his career, he was a founding member of the ACRA Emergency Net a search and rescue organization that later was taken over by SAR of NM. Services will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Legacy Church, 7201 Central, NW.
