Colleen Stolworthy Swenk

Colleen (Stoworthy) Swenk, 82, of Farmington passed from this life Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at her home surrounded in the loving arms of her family. Colleen was born May 24, 1927 in Red Rock, Arizona the daughter of Carlos Joy Stolworthy and Viola (Olson) Stolworthy. She graduated from Kirtland High School and later met and married Neeley Swenk in 1946. Colleen was adored by her family and friends. She loved to laugh and her quick wit made everyone feel at home. Neeley and Colleen spent summers in the mountains fishing and camping. They were married for 50 years. Colleen was employed by Panache’, a local women’s clothing store, where she met many wonderful people and made instant friends. Neeley used to wake Colleen up with Frank Sinatra records and they are dancing together tonight. Colleen will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, daughters, Sherlyn and husband Larry Carter of Johnstown, Colorado, Shauna Lindell of Ft. Collins, Colorado; sons, Ronald and wife Tara Swenk of Farmington and Dennis and wife Shirley Swenk also of Farmington and daughter Cindy Griffith and husband Larry of Farmington; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren whom she loved and adored; a brother Reed Stolworthy and wife Joy of Arizona; sister Donna Letchenberg and husband Kay of Blanding, Utah; brother Willard Stolworthy and wife Venita of Providence, Utah; sister Clara Sorenson and husband Dennis also of Utah and brother Tom Stolworthy and wife Kay of Arizona; sisters Ramona Gills of Arizona, Johanna Anderson and husband Sherm of Roy, Utah and sister ViAnn Noker and husband Roy of Hooper, Utah and many dear friends. Colleen was preceded in death by her brother Shirl Stolworthy in 1943 and husband of Neeley Swenk in 1996. Visitation will be held today, Friday, May 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. in Farmington. A celebration of Colleen’s life will be Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Farmington 5th Ward Chapel, 4400 N. College Blvd. in Farmington with Bishop Mike Lacey conducting. Colleen will then be buried alongside her husband and brother at the Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery in Kirtland. Pallbearers are Brian Carter, Jake Swenk, Tom Swenk, Eric Swenk, Ryan Lindell and Brad Griffith. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Carter, David Carter and Clint Lindell.
