Connie J. Callahan

In loving memory of Connie Joann Callahan of Rio Rancho, New Mexico who passed away in her home on December 3, 2023.  She was a loving mother to Brent and Mitzi; supportive grandmother to Brittany, Ally, Trevor and Brenlyn; great-grandmother, to Isaac, Iliana, and Juliana.  Connie married Don Callahan in 1974.  They lived in Joplin, Missouri before eventually moving to Albuquerque, NM.  Albuquerque is where she met her lifelong partner, Nancy Stephens.

She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 31, 1951 to Carroll and Anice Laney.  She was the oldest of five children: three sisters, Dewona, Lynn, Dana; and one brother, Randy. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dewona.

Growing up Connie was always a straight A student and very athletic.  She play many sports.  But excelled at track.  She was also on the debate team.  She attended Pittsburgh State University and received her Doctorate Degree from the University of New Mexico.  She retired from a long teaching career at Eastern Kentucky University.

Connie cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved to shop for them and always arrived bearing gifts for them.  She was an amazing woman that cared for everyone and was loved by all who knew her.
