Constantine Deubel

d. August 13, 2010

DEUBEL - Constantin Deubel, 84, passed away peacefully the morning of August 13, 2010. He was born April 3, 1926 in Buzau, Romania. In 1947 he emigrated to France where he met Martha his wife of 61 years. In 1951, the couple and their 2 year old son, Richard, emigrated to L’Assompcion, Quebec, Canada, where their second son, Christian, was born. In 1954 the family emigrated to Connecticut where Constantin worked as a tool and die maker. In 1962 the family moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Constantin worked as a machinist at Los Alamos National Laboratory until his retirement in 1990. Constantin and Martha retired to Green Valley, Arizona, until their recent return to New Mexico in March 2010. Constantin was a life member of the B.P.O.E. 460. He loved to fish, walk and swim in the ocean, the bigger the waves the better. He had an intense interest for photography. He and Martha traveled the world usually by way of cruise ship, enjoying the cultural diversity of the cruise ship staff and passengers. He especially enjoyed the culinary aspects of cruise ship travel which contrasted with his childhood struggle of survival in pre-war Eastern Europe. He had a life long passion for dancing. While he would dance with any willing partner, or alone, he was most happy dancing with Martha. Their skill at dancing caused other couples to stop and watch them, resulting in his often used nickname of “Crazy Legs” Deubel. Survivors include his wife, Martha, sons Richard of Edgewood, Christian and wife Irene of Santa Fe, daughter in law Kathy Deubel of Albuquerque; grandsons, Jesse and Lisa of Edgewood, Rory and wife Lindsey of Rio Rancho, and Justin of Santa Fe; granddaughters, Jacqueline and Jolene of Santa Fe, Ashlee Harris and husband Yogonda of Albuquerque and seven great grandchildren and a great great grandson. The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Brookdale Place in Albuquerque, Hospice of the Sandias and Dr. Elizabeth Morgan. You are all truly special people. Cremation has taken place and no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions on behalf of Constantin be made to Doctors Without Borders. Constantin’s care has been entrusted to: Daniels Family Funeral Services 7601 Wyoming Blvd, NE Albuquerque, NM 87109 (505) 821-0010
