Consuelo Evangelina Maes/Dowler

Consuelo Evangelina Maes/Dowler, age 89, passed away April 15, 2023. The youngest daughter of eighteen children, Consuelo was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Her parents, Manuel De Atocha Maes, Sr. and Margarita (Griego) Maes of Las Vegas, New Mexico, 15 siblings and her beloved husband, Keith Dowler preceded her in passing. Consuelo attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Grade School and graduated from Las Vegas High School. She participated in numerous musical performances throughout her life and in secretarial organizations during her working career.

Nothing was more important to Consuelo than her family. She is survived by her son Ron and wife Debra and grandsons Charlie and wife Brandi Dowler of Rio Rancho, NM; Joseph and wife, Crystal Keel and great grandson, Thomas Dowler of Hubert, North Carolina; daughter Susan and husband John Fullinwider of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchild Katie and husband Dakota Greer of St. Helens, Oregon; grandchild Paul and wife Cynthia and great granddaughters Scarlett and Samantha Fullinwider of Aloha Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Consuelo and her high school sweetheart, Keith, enjoyed camping, cross country skiing, golfing, traveling and playing with family and close friends. Dancing was their favorite social pastime. It was not unusual for them to stop whatever they were doing and dance together if they heard a song they liked. They loved teaching their children and grandchildren the art of traditional dances and appreciation of theater, classical music, opera and poetry. Consuelo was active in the Los Alamos, Chamisa Hills and Santa Ana Women's Golf Associations, where she held numerous offices. She also enjoyed her close bridge friends.

One of her favorite accomplishments was compiling the life history of her father, Manuel de Atocha Maes. Publications were shared with siblings, their families and close family friends. The book will be displayed at the memorial.
