In Loving Memory of Corliss Ann Fenimore
January 31, 1934 – January 13, 2026
"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
Corliss Fenimore, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter and friend, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026 in her Albuquerque home at the age of 91. Her family was by her side. She was born on January 31, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Wendell and Nellie Eskridge.
Growing up the family moved frequently due to her brother’s health and finding work for her father in the depression; from Wisconsin to Indiana to Arizona and finally New Mexico where she met her husband Lawrence (Larry) Vernon Fenimore at the age of 18. Corliss was treasured and adored by her husband for over 72 years until his death in October of 2024.
Corliss was the consummate hostess frequently having gatherings of all types in their beautiful home. She earned a Master’s in Computer Science (working for Sandia Laboratories for over 30 years), was socially conscious (volunteer at Presbyterian Hospital Gift Shop, member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, member of the SANADO Women’s Club, and contributed to a multitude of charities), and was a world traveler (going to over 30 countries and seeing most of the United States). She was a fierce competitor when playing cards of any kind; loved bridge and Friday’s playing Shanghai with her friends to the very end – frequently winning.
A woman of faith, Corliss came from a long line of Baptist believers. At her death she was a member of Sandia Presbyterian Church. Her last words were reciting The Lord’s Prayer.
Corliss is survived by her children Lawrence W Fenimore, Mark W Fenimore, and Cynthia A Fenimore. Grandchildren Ryann Elaine Fenimore, Scott Adam Fenimore, Shaina Brianne Fenimore, Sean Frank Zappia, Patrick Lawrence Zappia, Ashley Alyssa Murphy, Amber Alexis Murphy, and great grandchildren Maxwell Todd Fenimore and Hunter James Zappia.
Corliss was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Nellie Eskridge, her sisters Bettye Jean Judith, Joyce Eileen Casey, Martha Lee Julian, her brother Nelson Wendell Eskridge, and her husband Lawrence Vernon Fenimore.
Corliss’ legacy of faith, family, fun, and adventure will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends.
Services will be held on Saturday January 31st (it would have been her 92nd birthday) at 1:30 pm followed by a reception at Sandia Presbyterian Church. Her remains will come to rest alongside her husband at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
