Curtis Bernard August, Sr., of Rio Rancho, New Mexico went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2015 at home. He was born September 18, 1959 in Fort Ord, Monterrey, California to Artis August and Zolina Waiters. Zolina Waiters and Ingrid Rene Moore (sister) preceded him in death. Curtis was married to Valerie August on August 21, 1992. They celebrated 7 years together. This union brought forth one loving son Curtis Bernard August, Jr. Curtis received his formal education from Eastwood High School. He served honorably in the United States Army from February 8, 1977 to February 7, 1980.  He worked for the Burlington Railroad Northern Santa Fe for 15 years and enjoyed his retirement for the past 7 years. Curtis was a loving, caring, and joyful husband, brother, father and friend. Curtis is survived by one son Curtis Jr., one step son DeShawn Kemp, one step daughter Zemobia (Nikki) Kemp. Left to celebrate his life is his siblings Rosemary Buck, Wanda Biggers, Artis L. August, Barry August, Angela Robinson, Tamerah Hudgins, Autumn Nelson, Antoinette Hughley, Paulette August-Spicer, Calvin August and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Curtis’ wake will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 4:00pm to 5:30pm at Daniel’s Family Funeral Services in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.  The Funeral Service will follow from 5:30 to 7:00pm. A procession will be leaving Daniels Family Funeral Services Sara Rd. Chapel at 8:45am followed by interment on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 10:30am.
