Funeral services for Dan Betom, 80, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup. Visitation will be today, Dec. 7, at Cope Memorial Chapel. Betom died Dec. 3, 2009, in Pinedale. He was born Dec. 15, 1928, in Smoke Signal, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Tobacco People Clan. Betom worked for the Railroad for 25 years then retired. He was a livestock rancher and traditional medicine man. Survivors include his wife, Julia Betom; sons, Phillip Betom of Iyanbito, Daniel Betom of Black Mesa; daughters, Helen Betom of Smoke Signal, Evelyn Betom of Tuba City, Lena Betom of Smoke Signal, Linda Betom of Smoke Signal, Susie Betom of Smoke Signal, Sadie Betom; brothers, Charlie Tsosie of Pinedale, John Nelson of Toajiilee, Nelson Tsosie of Smoke Signal, Henry Betom of San Carlos, Jiam Betom of Blue Gap, Jarb Betom of Smoke Signal; sisters, Mary Tsosie Betom, Mary Betom.
