Daniel Lee Funk

January 19, 1954 – February 21, 2026

Daniel Lee Funk, 72, of Corrales, New Mexico, completed his final earthly journey and entered eternal rest on February 21, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Naomi Funk.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Katherine; his sister, Lorraine, and her husband, George; his nephew, Kyle; and a large extended family and a large circle of friends who loved him dearly. Dan retired from Sandia National Laboratories, where he faithfully served as a security police officer. He carried himself with strength, integrity, and meticulous attention to detail. He believed in doing things right, took pride in his work, and lived with intention.

He was adventurous at heart. Whether traveling, cruising, enjoying the open road, or following his love of racing, Dan embraced life fully. He appreciated craftsmanship, speed, and precision — but nothing meant more to him than the life he shared with Katherine. Their 52-year marriage was a beautiful testament to enduring love. Together, they built not only homes, but a life rooted in partnership, laughter, and unwavering devotion. They were each other’s greatest blessing and constant companion.

Dan’s steady presence, loyal heart, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His greatest adventure has just begun. Though we grieve, we hold tightly to the promise of eternal life and the hope of reunion. He will forever remain in our hearts. 

Services will be held on March 5 at Daniels Funeral Home, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, with visitation at 10:30 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m.
