Daniel H Montoya

Daniel H. Montoya, 90, a life-long resident of Cuba, New Mexico passed away peacefully at his home on March 15, 2021.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Edumenia Montoya, his brothers Nick and Feliciano Montoya, and his sisters Emma Garcia, Fito Zaplin and Mena Aragon.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Erlinda, his daughters Joann Trujillo and husband Leonard of Albuquerque, Belinda Sandoval and husband Rudy of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Sandra Mirabal and husband Steve of Albuquerque, Christine Montoya and husband Christopher Ray of Forest Grove, Oregon and son Danny Montoya and wife Sandra of Phoenix, Arizona.  His Grandchildren, Samantha Padilla, Adam Trujillo, Vanessa Trujillo, Rudy Sandoval, Jr., Kenneth Sandoval, Alyssa Mirabal, Stephanie Mirabal, Jessica Montoya, Justine Gutierrez, Adrian Montoya, Daniel Montoya, Rachel Montoya, Tiffany Carter, and Chantel Murphy, 19 Great Grandchildren, along with 3 sisters, Carmelita Montenegro, Perfectita Chavez, and Fora Montoya, brother LeRoy Montoya, and many nieces and nephews.

He served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956.  He married Erlinda in 1957 and they raised their family in Cuba.  He was self-employed as a contractor for many years and later in his life he purchased a ranch where he began a life of a rancher and found enjoyment in raising cows, mending fences and growing alfalfa.  He enjoyed spending the days at his ranch and did this up until several months ago.

The Family wishes to acknowledge and express their appreciation to the staff of Compassus for their loving care and kindness given to Daniel.
