Danny B Candelaria

Danny Bobby Candelaria, age 73 passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2023.  Danny was born on July 2, 1950, in Albuquerque, NM.  He was a graduate of Albuquerque High School and the University of New Mexico with a degree in Education.  Danny was an avid educator and football coach who invested 35 years teaching high school math and coaching football at Manzano, Rio Grande and Valley High Schools.  In retirement, he enjoyed working in his yard, keeping up with politics and world news…but what he loved most of all was taking care of his seven grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye.

Danny is survived by his two daughters: Ericka DeCourcey, (her husband Michael; their three children, Taylor, Deklan and Christian); Amanda Holzer, (her husband Dan and sons Dylan, Danny, Hayden, and Hunter); four sisters, Gloria Johansen, Julia Santillanes, Pauline and Susie Candelaria; as well as many other extended family members. 

Danny was an extremely dedicated grandfather who communicated daily to stay active in his daughters’ and grandchildren’s lives.  He never missed a game, event or birthday and will be sadly missed by all. God Bless.
