Dannye Bristow

Bristow, Dannye (Harris),Age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunay, May 3, 2026, in Albuquerque, NM, after a long, healthy and adventurous life. Dannye was born in Crowell, TX, on August 17, 1930, to Joe Bailey Warren and Lola Frances Bell.

Dannye grew up in Monahans, TX, where she lived with her mother Lola Bell and her beloved adoptive father, R. T. Harris, and her 2 siblings. She graduated from Monahans High School in the Class of 1947.

Dannye met her future husband, John Lester Bristow, at the Gulf Oil Company Annual Picnic at the Monahans City Park in the spring of 1947. John proposed to her in the summer of 1947 and they were married on November 21, 1947. They lived in Monahans where John was employed with Gulf Oil until November 1963. Then they moved overseas to Tripoli, Libya, where John became employed with Oasis Oil Company. John and Dannye lived with their children in Tripoli for 8 years, enjoying many travels throughout Europe and the Middle East. They eventually returned to Texas, settling in Midland, TX, where John retired from the oil industry. John and Dannye became self-employed entrepreneurs in Midland after creating a company that manufactured lady’s purses, bags and clothing with personalized motifs and monograming. They later began a jewelry company and together they successfully enjoyed their two businesses.

Dannye and John eventually retired full time in Albuquerque, NM. They enjoyed many years living in Albuquerque, attending their Methodist church, searching for treasures in local antique shops, and hosting many family and friends visiting them from out of town. They were avid bridge players and participated in several bridge clubs in the Rio Rancho area. They also played board and card games with their visiting and local grandchildren. Together Dannye and John taught us all many new and fun games to play as family. After her husband John passed, Dannye became a member of the High Desert United Methodist Church and she enjoyed attending services there with her friends for several years.

Dannye is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, John Bristow, her sister Julia Brown, and great grandsons Zane Crockett and Justin Bristow.

Dannye is survived by her son John Rollins and life partner Robert Y. Andrews of Albuquerque, NM, daughters Jannye Bristow and husband Anthony Maddux of Roseville, CA, Julia Rivera and husband Louis R. Rivera of Corrales, NM, and brother Jim Bell Harris of Colorado City, TX. Dannye leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. She was loved by all.
