David R. Casias, age 69, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 6, 2016.
David was born February 14, 1947 in Albuquerque NM. He was preceded in death by members of his immediate family, his parents Maximiano and Ignacita (Agnes) Casias, two sisters who died in infancy, his brother Albert (Max) and James (Jim).
He is survived by his sister Marcella, brothers Arthur, Phillip, Johnny (Polly), Daniel (Gwen), Sister-in-law Corina, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a graduate of Albuquerque High School where he was a member of the track team and lettered in track. He was a graduate of the University of New Mexico where he received his Bachelors Degree in Political Science. His professional career began in Social Services for the State of New Mexico and subsequently for 25 years with the Prosthetic s Department at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque.
David had a great, positive social outlook and attitude which he shared with his many friends, co-workers and acquaintances, as well as his many relatives. He was an avid fan of horse racing as he loved horses and frequently traveled to the race tracks in New Mexico and Texas. He also loved to vacation in Las Vegas, Nevada and take advantage of the large array of horse racing opportunities offered there. He enjoyed gardening in his vegetable and flower garden at his home. He especially enjoyed all the time he spent with family and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. David was a super avid fan of the UNM Lobos Basketball and Football programs. We will all miss his gregarious and friendly nature.
A celebration of life will be held Monday November the 14th, at 2:00 pm, Reception Room.
