David Kalectaca died June 22, 2011, in Phoenix. He was born March 10, 1968, in Keams Canyon. Kalectaca was born into the Black Sheep People Clan and born for the Fog (Water) People Clan. Kalectaca received his BS in mechanical engineering from Arizona State University. He worked with the Pima Maricopa Irrigation Project, Gila River Indian Community, Indian Health Service Scholarship. His hobbies included hiking, basketball, running and golf. Survivors include his wife, Charlene A. Kalectaca of Tempe; sons, Waylon M. Kalectaca, Michael R. Kalectaca, both of Tempe; mother, Amy Kalectaca of Gilbert; brother, Duane C. Kalectaca of Gilbert; sister, Lynn Fredericks of Kykotsmovi; grandparents, Agens Dodge of Crystal, Benjamin Dodge of Crystal, Tirzah Kalectaca of Shumgopavi, Ariz., Bruce Kalectaca of Misunghovi. Kalectaca was preceded in death by his father, Milo Kalectaca. Pallbearers will be Duane Kalectaca, Tristen Lucero, Hiran Jim, Aidan Fredericks, Richard Dodge, Randy Charley.
