David Michael Ryan

David Michael Ryan of Bernalillo, New Mexico, passed away tragically June 10th at the age of 48.  He is preceded in death by his mother Margaret Ryan. He is survived by his father John Ryan, wife Shalmarie Ryan, children John P. Ryan IV and wife Rachel, Tea Ryan, and David Ryan Jr.; nephew Devine; Clyde and Francella Martinez; and dogs: Apollo and Buddy.  He is also survived by his brothers; many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

David, aka Big Daddy, was in born in El Paso, TX and graduate from Mayfield High School, then went into the Marine Corps., where he retired as Staff Sargent after 20 years and three tour: Iraq, Afghanistan and Baghdad.  Shalmarie and David were first married in March of 1995 for 15 years and lived in many states throughout his military career.  They rekindled their love and remarried in January 2021.  David has his Associates Degree from Craven Community College and went on to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  After retiring from the Marines “Big Daddy” had several jobs here and there but never wanted anything serious till he decided to open his own catering business, for his love of smoking on the grill, called “Fire Watch-yeah, we’ll smoke that”.

He was a great man and loved to tell stories and spend time with family, we grieve his tragic passing and will forever love him.
