Funeral Services for Dean Paul Arviso, 61, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Cope Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in family plot, Pinedale. Arivso died Sept. 23, 2010, in Gallup. He was born June 4, 1949, in Crownpoint, into the Towering House People Clan for the Blackstreet People Clan. Arviso attended Pinedale Headstart, Mariano Lake, Wingate Elementary and graduated from Wingate High School. He joined the United States Marines on March 6, 1969. He then went to trade school, was a certified welder and worked at Pasquelo, Miss. He also worked for the Navajo Nation as a bus driver for Pinedale Head start. Arviso later worked for McKinley County and retired in 2010. His hobbies included spending time with family and friends, horseback riding, playing sports like basketball and baseball. He also loved to travel and liked the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Loretta L. Arviso of Pinedale; sons, Darren Arviso, Garrold Arviso, both of Sundance, Vincent Arviso, Jimson Arviso, both of Pinedale; daughters, Angela Arviso of Gallup, Amanda Arviso of Pinedale; brothers, Dan Arviso, Freddie Arviso, both of Pinedale; sisters, April A. Martin, Alice DeGroat of Mariano Lake, Emma Daswood, Louise Murillo, all of Pinedale; six grandchildren. Arviso was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie H. Arviso, Donna G. Arviso; grandmother, Nanabah Arviso. Pallbearers will be family members. The family will receive relatives and friends at Pinedale Chapter House, following services.
