Derrick Paul Apachito

Alamo

Derrick Paul Apachito was born on March 19, 1989, to Paul and Shirley Apachito.  He was 33 years young.  Derrick is survived by his parents, his daughter, Deja Hope; sons, Daniel and Dayyrick; his brother, Arlas J. Apachito; sisters, Jennifer J. Secatero, Shonia R. Apachito, Rosanna M. Apachito, and Shirleen M. Apachito.  He was also survived by many nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.

Derrick graduated high school from Alamo Navajo Community School in 2007.  After his graduation, Derrick enlisted in the Army to serve his country.  He attended boot camp in Ft. Knox, Kentucky.  Derrick served 4 years in the army and on year he deployed to fight for our freedom in Iraq.  He returned to Ft. Hood, Texas to recover from his war injuries and later he was honorably discharged from the Army.

After Derrick return to his civilian life, he moved back to New Mexico and worked as an Ironworker with the Union.  He worked on buildings like the Santa Ana Center, UMN Hospital in Rio Rancho, and the new Facebook building in Los Lunas.

Derrick’s hobbies were shed hunting, hiking, coin collections, and drawing tattoo designs.  Although some days were difficult to cope with war injuries, he still enjoyed and loved spending time with his children, family, and friends.  He always had a contiguous smile and made funny jokes when he had family and friends around.

At such a difficult time, it’s important to remember the good memories we all have of Derrick.  By holding those good memories, we all have of Derrick, we can focus on good times we had together, and help one another find comfort in this difficult time.

Derrick’s viewing will be held on November 23, 2022, at 11:00 am at Daniels Family Funeral Service – Socorro Chapel, Socorro, New Mexico.  Followed by Gravesite Service at UFO Cemetery, Alamo, New Mexico.
