Dora Martinez

November 13, 1931 — November 17, 2021

Dora Martinez, affectionately known by all who knew and loved her as Nana, was born on November 13, 1931 to Felipe and Rosita (Estrada) Sanchez in El Paso, Texas.  Nana entered into eternal rest on November 17, 2021 surrounded by her daughters. 

                Nana had a way to spread joy to everyone she met.  She had a joke or a funny response to every situation.  She brought a family of Ninety people into the world, including ten children, 25 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.   She suffered through the loss of 6 sons, 1 daughter, and 4 grandchildren.  She always turned to her strong faith to get her through the incredible sorrow caused by the loss.  Nana was a life-long member of San Miguel Catholic Parish and was a member of the Legion of Mary.  She also assisted with the Religious Education Program as an assistant in the Kindergarten class.  She passed on her faith to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, praying the rosary with them before bed every night and ensuring that they attended mass every Sunday and Holy day of Obligation.

                She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, newborn Avelicio Sanchez, Carlos Benito Sanchez, her sister Atochita (Sanchez) Chavez, her children Reynaldo, Raymond, Lazaro, Filomeno Jr.,  Senaida, Joe, grandchildren, Diana Martinez, Michael Greenwood, Raymond Martinez, Yvonne Baca and Son-in-law George Zamora.  She is survived by her sisters Aurora Garza, Maria Elena Boatwright,  children Antonita Jackson, Rose Roe, Priscilla Martinez, Jerry Martinez, and Bernadette (George) Zamora and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. 

                The Holy Rosary and Mass will be held at San Miguel Parish followed by burial at the San Miguel Cemetery.  Pall bearers will be Patrick Martinez, Charlie Martinez, Christopher Zamora, Deyon Martinez, Brenden Chavez, Gabriel Chavez. Honorary Pall bearers are Rodney Baca, Jeremiah Martinez, and Ray Aragon.
