SAVEDGE ?? Doris N. Savedge, 83, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Cibola Hospital in Grants, NM. She was born on August 24, 1927 in Grundy Center, IA to Henry and Sophia Neessen. After High School, Doris moved to Kansas City, where she worked for TWA and met her future husband, Eugene F. "Gene Savedge. After they married, the couple moved to Las Cruces, NM, where they raised three daughters. It was during their years here that the entire family developed a life long love of the outdoors. Among their greatest pleasures were camping, fishing, hunting, boating, and playing in the snow with their three girls. When Gene retired from Civil Service, they moved to San Acacia, NM, where he went to work as liason between Honeywell Inc. and Tera (now known as EMERTC, a division of New Mexico Tech). At this point, Doris was a homemaker and also raised show rabbits. As a hobby, they also raised other livestock and animals. During this time, their daughter, Debbie and grandchildren, Michael and Kristen moved back to Socorro, NM. Their daughter, Rhonda and husband David also moved to San Acacia. Doris and Gene were thrilled having so much of their family together, especially their grandkids. When Gene passed away in 1983, Doris sold their house and moved, along with Michael to Breckenridge, TX, where her daughter, Sandra "Sandi and husband, Paul were living. In Texas, they opened a pet store and while they did enjoy the different animals, decided this was not for them, and closed the store. Doris and Michael moved back to Socorro. Doris also enjoyed traveling. She continued driving to Las Cruces, Texas, Oklahoma, and Iowa to visit family and long time friends. At one point Doris was invited to visit family friends in Valdez, AK. She jumped at the chance. She loved the area so much that her two week vacation lasted almost a year. About this time, Rhonda had opened a ceramic shop, so Doris moved to T or C, NM to help out with that. Doris was experiencing health problems that prompted her to move into an assisted living apartment complex, with Rhonda as her major care ?? giver. When Rhonda died in 2005, Doris took it badly and her health declined even more. It was this event that convinced her and her other daughters, Debbie and Sandi to move her to Good Samaritan Nursing Facility in Grants. For about the next four years, Doris? health improved. She joined in the activities at Good Sam?s, as well as going on outings with family and friends. Since then, Doris developed additional medical problems and her health progressively declined. On June 12, 2011, her daughter, Sandi also passed away. She was never really the same after that, and went to join her family on August 15, 2011. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Erwin, Tom, and Willis, sister in law, Jean Neessen, sisters and brothers in law, Jean and Dick Grace, and Evelyn and Evard Mossman, her husband Gene Savedge of the family home, and her daughters, Rhonda Savedge St George of Williamsburg, NM and Sandra S. McElroy of Grants, NM. Doris is survived by her daughter, Debbie Goering and husband, Kelly Ramzel of Socorro, NM, her grandson, Michael Savedge and wife Lindsey of Vancouver, WA, her granddaughter, Kristen Romero and husband Augustin and great grandchildren, Abriana "Abby and Augustin Jr "Tuco of San Antonio, NM. Doris was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was loved very much and will be missed greatly.
