Dorothy Dalton passed away on September 11, 2018 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico at the age of 87 due to natural causes.

Dorothy McCall was born September 3, 1931 at the family home in the Fort Hall area. Dorothy was the fourth of seven children of Norman (Tiny) McCall and Margaret Frasure McCall.

Dorothy married Jim Dalton in Elko, Nevada on October 15, 1950. Soon after, Jim re-enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War, and Dorothy’s life became one of a military wife, moving from base to base. Between 1951 and 1968, the family lived on or near bases in Southern California; Norfolk, Virginia; Maryland, the Washington D.C. area and even Japan; returning to San Pedro, California in 1967. While Jim was transferred on to a ship during the Vietnam War, Dorothy moved the family to Pocatello, Idaho. She attended Grimm’s Business College then went to work at Clark Real Estate before going to work at the Pocatello Police Department. She worked there for 19 years as office manager for the records department for the Pocatello Police, retiring in 1994.

After retirement, Dorothy and Jim moved to Tome, New Mexico in August 1994. There, both worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, retrieving railroad crews throughout the state. They also built a home on 8 acres in the desert near Tome, which they lived in for over a decade.

Dorothy returned to Pocatello in 2007, where she lived quietly until she moved in 2017 with her daughter, Marie, to her other daughter’s home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico until her death.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Norman (Tiny) McCall and Margaret Frasure McCall, her husband Jim Dalton and her siblings Dick Blackburn, Neil McCall, Bud McCall and Shirley Davis.

Dorothy is survived by her siblings Norma Cragun and Bob McCall; her 3 children Carol Harris, Rio Rancho, NM; Jay Dalton and his wife Penny from Ocean Shores, WA. and Marie Dalton, Rio Rancho, NM. Dorothy’s grandchildren: Paula Zamaro-Sagara and her husband Toby from South Lake Tahoe, CA; Jeremy Gameson, Albuquerque, NM; Bill Uhouse, CO; Alisha Lundschen and her husband Dean from Granbury TX; and Benito Montoya, Albuquerque, NM

Dorothy is survived by 5 great grandchildren: Brendon Uhouse, Bastian Uhouse, Brayden Lundschen, Derek Lundschen, Leah Lundschen.

Dorothy was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Dorothy requested cremation and there will be no formal service. The family will hold a private remembrance at a later date.
