Obituary

Dorothy Keller of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and formerly an 88-year resident of Sikeston, Missouri, passed away September 6, 2026, at the age of 97. She was born in 1929 to parents Ivie and Myrtle Lewis. In 1947 she married Bill Guess, also of Sikeston. They raised four children, Mike of Denver, Colorado, Sharon Green (deceased), Steve Guess (deceased), and Linda Russell of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In June of 1989, Dorothy married Glen Keller, and they enjoyed life together, attending church, playing piano, visiting with friends at the senior center, dressing up in costume for senior celebrations and dancing away at local senior events.

One of Dorothy’s prized accomplishments was having her poetry in print. The hospice chaplain, Bill Bice, often read one of her poems during his service at the assistant living facility, Fountain Hill, and shared scripture and at least one of her poems during his individual visits with Dorothy.

Dorothy is survived by children: Mike (Jennifer) Guess, and Linda (Donald) Russell; grandchildren and great- grandchildren: Rich (Ellen) Guess, Skylar and Kira, of Broomfield, Colorado; Steve (Jamie) Guess, Will, Allison (Ali) and Kyla, of Littleton, Colorado; Chuck (Beth) Largent, Jacob and Jack of Benton, Kentucky; Bill (Brandi) Green and Jude of Malden, Missouri; Darrell (Shari) and daughter Harper of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Robin (Alex) Fullam, Tristan McDonald and Jasper McDonald of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Extended family: Children of brother Billy and Geraldine Lewis: Nancy (Steve) Alsup, Marilyn (Don) Barnes, William Lewis and Jerry (Rita) Lewis; Bud (Doris) Guess and children Mark, Julie and Suzanne of Des Moines, Iowa; Betty Guess and children Larry, Diane and David of St Louis, Missouri; nephew Joe Bean of Kent, Ohio; Jim Keller, step-son, of Sikeston, grandsons Mike Keller and Kevin Keller of Sikeston, and twin Granddaughters, Marsha Elfrink and Margaret Baber of Cape Girardeau.

Two very special sisters-in-law, Betty Guess and Doris Guess have supported her to the end with cards, letters, and phone calls, often sharing memories made in Mom Guess’ kitchen. Both meant so much to her. Additionally, her two nieces, Nancy and Marilyn have supported her through calls and cards, with Marilyn and husband Don driving nearly 20 hours to visit her in assisted living for a couple of hours before returning home. She has truly been blessed by the kindness of love of friends and family.

Dorothy was predeceased by husband Glen Keller, Brother and Sister-in-Law Billy and Geraldine Lewis, Children Sharon (Largent) Green and Steve Guess, and Son-in-Law, Charlie Largent.

Many thanks to the amazing care provided by Fountain Hill Assisted Living and Roadrunner Hospice. Each and every one of them provided not only unparalleled care but also love and prayers throughout their service. They are all family too!
