Dorothy Louise Isabel Martin
May 16, 1941 – January 27, 2026
Dorothy Louise Isabel Martin, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful Catholic, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born on May 16, 1941, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Louise was the beloved daughter of Charles Romero and Virginia Sanchez. She grew up surrounded by family and her three siblings: brother Tom Romero and wife Linda, sister Rebecca Killingsworth and husband Tom and sister Lorena Solano and husband Ralph.
Louise attended St. Vincent Academy and later graduated from Albuquerque High School. On January 10, 1967, she married the love of her life, Philip Jack Martin, at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Their romance began through a shared passion for country dancing, which blossomed into a deep and enduring partnership that lasted until Philip's passing on December 11, 2008.
Professionally, Louise worked as a Word Processor at Statewide Insurers, where she remained until her retirement. She took great pride in her work and the steady contribution she made throughout her career.
Louise’s greatest joys came from her family, her faith, and the simple pleasures of life. An avid gardener, she lovingly tended her rose garden for many years. She delighted in square dancing, spending time with her beloved dogs, embarking on cruises with family, and never missing an episode of Jeopardy. Above all, her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. A longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption, Louise attended Sunday Mass without fail—even while traveling—and ensured her children received a Catholic education. Her devotion to God and her family was evident in every aspect of her daily life.
Louise is survived by her loving daughter, Diane Huntley, and son-in-law, Christopher Huntley; her daughter-in-law, Daphany Martin; her grandchildren, Tyler Martin and wife Yvonne, Larissa Chess and husband RJ, Philip Martin, and Samantha Martin; and her great-grandchildren, Hannah, Savannah, and Maela. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Philip Jack Martin, and her son, Philip Jack Martin Jr., who passed away on July 27, 2018.
Mass will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, followed by a reception to honor Louise’s life and legacy. A Graveside will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 11:00am at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
Louise will be remembered for her warm heart, unwavering faith, and the deep love she shared with her family. She will be greatly missed.
