Dr. Doris A. McIntyre, 68, of Farmington, went to her heavenly home on Friday, December 24, 2010,to spend Christmas with Jesus on his birthday. She was born November 30, 1942, in St. Louis, MO.
Dr. McIntyre was co-pastor with her husband of Restoration Family Worship Center.
Dr. McIntrye graduated from Southeast Missouri State and Western Illinois University, earning both a Master's degree in Education and Dr. of Theology. In 1970, she began psychology and christian counseloring through the Churches of God in Christ. She received her Doctorate of Psychology and an honorary degree from Calvary Grace.
She organized a singing group called Doris Woods and the Voices of Joy and recorded their first album in 1977.
In 2000, Dr. McIntyre founded a national women's organization called "Women Called To Praise" to help wounded women. One of her desires was to establish a women's shelter in Farmington. This project will be completed in early 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Cross, Sr. and Mildred L. Cross; and her brother Willia Cross, Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Bishop O.J. McIntyre; sisters, Sharon Green, Stephanie Farmer, Carol Cross and Madelyn Davis, MaryAnn McKinney; brothers, Steven Cross, Robert Cross and Kenneth Cross; many nieces and nephews and her precious church family.
Cremation has taken place.
