Dr. F. Jerry Fellman

Fellman, Frederick Jerry (Doc) Was born Friday the 13th of June, 1924 and died May 1, 2012. He was born in Des Moines, IA to Frederick Joseph Fellman and Sevilla M. Brassfield Fellman. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy and wife Ellen Marie Augustine Fellman. He is survived by his wife, Junia Stevens; children, Dana Lenberg (Jeff), Mike Fellman (Janice) and Elizabeth Anne Stoltzfus (Jay); eight grandchildren, Becca Hall (Matt), Emily Lenberg, Joshua Fellman (Sarah), Michaela Sutton (Josiah), Sarah Mizell (Cory), Megan, Lisa, and David Stoltzfus; three great grandsons, Noah and Elijah Fellman, and Timothy Sutton; brother, Tom Fellman (Phyllis) and their children, Tim, Pam and Jeff. Jerry was a caring and compassionate man who loved keeping up with the lives of his grandchildren. Jerry was a World War II veteran serving as a young pharmacist mate on the USS Hersey in the Pacific Ocean during the last two years of the war. An avid musician he put himself through college after the war playing the trombone in bands. Jerry attended Still Medical School in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated as a Doctor of Osteopathy. For several years he operated a small hospital in Carlsbad, NM. Jerry was involved with a group of physicians who flew their small planes to Sisoguichi, Mexico to provide medical care to the Tarahumara Indians. On one trip, short of fuel while returning to the states, he made an emergency landing in Cuauhtemoc. Jerry asked two boys to keep an eye on his plane while he went in search of fuel. He returned with the fuel and paid the boys for their services with a baseball, mitt, and bat. Jerry had a tender heart for children and the less fortunate. He will be greatly missed.
