Edward Francis Gartner, 76, beloved husband and father, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025, at his home in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by the love of his wife and daughter. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Ernest Henry Gartner and Alice Anna Berndt.
Ed served his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971, deploying to Vietnam during that time. After his time in the military, he used his talents in the auto after-market industry and later transitioned to a career in computer programming. He loved taking a ride on his motorcycle on a beautiful day. Ed was a life-long Chicago Bears fan. He loved classic rock, a good poker game, family game night, and playing video games with his children. His family and their menagerie of pets were always his priority. Family meant everything to him. Ed’s calm, loving presence was a constant source of strength. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Leslie Gartner; his daughter, Jessica Gartner; his sister, Carol Schober; and his grandchildren, Jeremy and Nathaniel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Alice Gartner; his son, Tony Gartner; and his sister, Delores Audehm.
A visitation will be held at 9:30 am, with funeral services immediately following at 10:00 am, on Wednesday, 12/31/25, at Daniel's Family Funeral & Cremation, Wyoming Chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
