Eileen Doris Tull Peterson

Eileen Doris Tull Peterson, age 98, passed away May 15, 2024, in Albuquerque, NM. She was born January 18, 1926, to her parents, Esta (Erickson) and Raymond M. Tull in Minneapolis, MN.

She married the love of her life, Reverend Burnell J. Peterson, June 24, 1950, at Augustana Seminary Chapel in Rock Island, IL.

She graduated high school and obtained a teaching Degree in college to become an Elementary School teacher. Eileen taught kindergarten to 3rd grade, but her favorite grade to teach was Third; Third Graders are eager to learn and explore. They are developing their personalities and sense of humor, which makes teaching very rewarding and fun. She had a great passion for her career, loved being a teacher, and loved children.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Burnell J. Peterson; her son, Timothy T. Peterson; and her sister, Shirley M. Holmer.

She is survived by her son, Christopher T. Peterson; her daughter, Suzanne E. Hawkes; her grandchildren, Shannon H. LeMaster, Elena C. Peterson, Daniel C. Peterson, David H. Deaton, Kristen R. Deaton, Erik A. Peterson, Katherine G. Peterson, John D. Becker, and Amanda S. Rombin; her great-grandchildren, Samuel T. LeMaster, Tobias E. Lemaster, Elizabeth D. Becker, Killian J. Becker, Bjorn D. Becker, and Lyla S. Rombin.

Eileen enjoyed the challenges of being a pastor’s wife. She helped with all aspects of the church as needed; from church organist to church secretary, to serving on the visiting committee, as well as being the Pastor’s confidant and sounding board. They served in Denver, Colorado; Bay Village, Ohio; Springfield, Ohio (new mission); Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Humble, Texas (new mission).

Eileen enjoyed pottery, interior decorating, and exploring the history of her ancestors.

She thoroughly enjoyed people and learning about them, was a great listener, & mentor. She was a Minister’s Wife, Mother, School Teacher, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.

She will be sorely missed, but remembered with love as she goes to be with our loved ones who have gone before.
