Eileen Sever

On June 5, 2023 Eileen Chambliss Sever went into the arms of Jesus at the age of 71. She passed peacefully at her cabin in Cloudcroft, NM and was surrounded by her husband, Randy and children, Shawn Sever and Megan Suarez.

Mary Eileen Chambliss Sever was born on August 26^th 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Wilmoth Chambliss and Edwin Jack Chambliss. Eileen was the oldest of two children. Her younger brother is Bill Chambliss of Colorado.

After graduating from Lubbock High School in 1969, she met and married Randy Sever in May of 1970. She attended Texas Tech University before relocating to Las Cruces, NM where she gave birth to her two sons, Christopher Hall (1974) and Shawn Alan (1977).  Eventually landing in Albuquerque, Eileen and Randy welcomed their daughter, Megan Elizabeth.  She worked at the UNM School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics as administrative assistant to the chairman of the department. She retired from UNM after 22 years of service. Eileen then went on to work in various roles at Presbyterian Healthcare before retiring from the Cancer Center department of Presbyterian in 2016.

She is survived by her husband, Randy Sever; son, Shawn Sever; and daughter, Megan Suarez (Phillip). Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren; Michaela Sever, Jordan Stott, Cooper Suarez, Camryn Suarez, Cohen Suarez and Crew Suarez.  She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Sever; mother, Wilmoth Chambliss; and father, Dr. Edwin Jack Chambliss.

For the last 40 years, Eileen was a faithful servant of both Mesa View United Methodist Church and High Desert United Methodist Church, as well as other faith-based organizations serving in roles such as choir director, pianist/organist, youth sponsor, financial secretary and disaster relief.

She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She always had a bright smile on her face and had a heart of gold. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
