Elaine Rose Lennox went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 13, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer.

Elaine was born on September 18, 1962, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Gordon and Lois "Jeannie" Lennox. She graduated from Del Norte High School in 1980 and went on to attend the University of New Mexico, where she earned her bachelor's degree in education.

As part of her education degree, Elaine completed her student teaching at Garfield Middle School, a place that held special significance for her family. The school was built on land that had once been her grandparents' homestead, making her time there especially meaningful.

Following graduation, Elaine began her teaching career at Gadsden High School in Anthony, New Mexico, where she taught for 32 years. She devoted her life to educating and encouraging young people, serving faithfully as a teacher until her retirement in May 2025.

Elaine was blessed with a love for music and was talented in playing the flute, guitar, piano, and trumpet. She was also a gifted vocalist who found great joy in singing, particularly during Christmas choir programs and special church celebrations.

Elaine's faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of four and remained devoted to Him throughout her life. She attended Garfield Gospel Chapel in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Grace Bible Fellowship in El Paso, Texas. She also faithfully served through Vacation Bible School ministries and many other church activities.

One of Elaine's greatest joys was serving at Southwest Bible Camp. Beginning as a camper and continuing throughout her adult life, she volunteered every summer in a variety of roles, including Activities Director, Girls' Counselor, and Head Cook. Her dedication to the camp and the countless lives she touched there spanned decades. She had not missed a summer of service since her camper days until her cancer diagnosis in 2022.

Elaine had a deep love for God's creation and especially for animals. She enjoyed horses throughout her life and cherished her beloved Bichon dogs, which brought her great companionship and joy. Her gentle and caring nature extended not only to people but also to the animals she loved.

Elaine will be remembered for her unwavering faith, servant's heart, love for children and young people, and the kindness, encouragement, and joy she shared with everyone she met.

Elaine is survived by her mother, Lois "Jeannie" Lennox; her brother, Alan (Janie) Lennox; her sisters, Jill (Roy) Dahlstrom and Beth (Bryan) Weaver; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends who were blessed by her love and friendship.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Lennox; her grandparents; and several beloved aunts and uncles.

Though her family and friends mourn her passing, they rejoice in the assurance that Elaine is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, whom she faithfully served throughout her life.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, June 19, at 5:00 p.m. at Garfield Gospel Chapel, 2406 Garfield Avenue SE, Albuquerque, New Mexico. A light supper will be provided following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southwest Bible Camp, 766 Camino Vista Rio, Bernalillo, NM 87004.
