Elizabeth Louise Ankeny, age 85, passed away surrounded by her family Friday, October 29, 2021. She was born October 27, 1936 to her parents, Genevieve and Joseph Newton in Bernalillo, NM. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Genevieve Newton and Joseph Newton; her son, Timothy Duprey; husband of 28 years, Claude Ankeny; brother, Richard Newton; brother, George Newton; first husband, Paul Duprey. 
 
She is survived by her: brother, Tim Newton and wife Gabriella of Illinois; son, Robert Duprey; daughter, Donna Gutierrez and husband, Robert Gutierrez of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Linda Perea and husband, Thomas Perea of Bernalillo, NM; nephew, Eric Newton of Albuquerque, NM; nephew, Nicholas Newton of Monroe, WA; nieces, Elizabeth Newton and Valerie Newton, and nephew Brian Newton of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Matthew Gutierrez, Yvette Salcido, Vanessa Gutierrez, Lauren Matthews, Natalie Duprey, Christina Duprey, and Jennifer Ivison; great-grandchildren: Jeremiah Davis, Cyanna Salcido, Naylani Salcido, Beija Salcido, Thomas Salcido, Ava Gutierrez, Cruz Gutierrez, Liam Ivison, Leigh Ivison, and Caleb Matthews. 
 
Elizabeth worked for a phone company and for Spartan South West for ten years and her last employment was with MRL (Missouri Research Lab). One of her working accomplishments was making bomb controllers which was a very classified level job and also worked on prototype work for ten years. 
 
She had a church membership at Alameda Baptist Church and also had been a member at Calvary Chapel. She was a volunteer for many years with the Billy Graham phone ministry at Calvary Chapel. She often prayed with people; attended Bible studies with her church, chatting online with fellow Christians.  
 
She loved spending time with all her kids and grandkids; sharing a meal to spend time with people, listening, and passing on her life experiences and cooking—especially everything with extra, extra onions. She loved going to church and visiting with her good friend, Christine. 
 
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will take place Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM.
