Elizabeth Lewis Brown was born February 20, 1919 in Mexico City. She died January 17, 2009 after a stroke. She took great strength from her routines. She swam every morning at 6AM. She had a watered down martini at 1PM. She watched "Jeopardy." She played "Scrabble." Liz loved to read, knit, and garden. If you were lucky enough to be invited to her table, you know what a great cook she was. Our last lunch together was Sunday, January 11, 2009. As always a beautiful table was set. Lunch was preceded by a Little Margaret, and lunch was a special favorite--Moctezuma Pie requested by her devoted daughter Jo. Liz was very thrifty and practical. After her father's untimely death, the family moved to rural California where they had to haul water. Liz had a career in the WAVES and at the American Embassy in Mexico City. Her handsome, beloved husband, Cantwell Brown, died after 25 years of marriage. Her daughter Gale Brown Bordon also died--of MS. Liz is survived by her daughter Jo Allen, her grandson Tristan Bordon, her stepson Seaborn Brown and family, many friends and neighbors at La Luz, many friends around the world, and her cat Silky. Liz had a special place in her strong and generous heart for pets. When I heard that Liz had an interest in Blue Sapphire Gin and asked her, she said, "Oh yes, if I get to heaven, I hope to swim in it!" So we know where she is and what she's doing. Donations to the Humane Society or Salvation Army would be appreciated. Funeral Services are entrusted to:
