Elizabeth C. (Betty) Larson

Elizabeth C. (Betty) Larson went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 15th, 2022 at the age of 94. She was born on August 16, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York to Thomas C. & Elizabeth (McMullen) Egan. She worked for the Board of Education of NYC, from which she retired, and was a long-time member of the Catholic War Veterans. Betty loved to travel quite a bit, and took many trips throughout her life. She was married to Hugo Larson who preceded her in death. After moving to Albuquerque, NM, her and her husband settled in Rio Rancho around 1980 to be closer to family. She became a vital part of the Rio Rancho community with her work in many of it's organizations. She was a long-time member & employee at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church where she worked for Monsignor Raun for many years as well as taught catechism classes and did many jobs for the church. She was a longtime member of the choir and an avid reader for the mass. Her very devotion to the Catholic religion was admirable.

Her true calling in life was as an advocate to animals. She was a lover of all animals and supported many charitable organizations that dealt with the care and service to animals. Her beloved cats were her pride and joy. She was very active in The Catholic War Veterans and was an officer for many years, belonged to the Catholic Daughters & the Altar & Rosary Society with St. Thomas church and gave selflessly of her time and energy volunteering. Family was very important to her, and she spent a good deal of time with her nieces and nephews over the years. She was referred to as "our second mom". Her sweet, good-natured personality won her many friends throughout her life, and she had only good to say about all. She enjoyed playing piano and singing throughout her life and had a wonderful singing voice just like her brother Tom. She will be dearly missed by all of us.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, her brother's Thomas & Johnny, her husband Hugo, and her nephew Johnny Villarose. She is survived by her nieces, Donna & her husband Craig Wood and their children, her great niece Amber & great nephew Tyler, her niece Kathy Villarose & her great niece Ann-Marie Villarose, her niece Mary Ellen Franklin, her great niece Kristin Pierce & husband Seth & their son, her great, great nephew Jade, great niece Keri Bakke and her husband Nick, her nephew Tom Egan & his wife Michelle, & her former nephew Dan Franklin, several cousins and her very good friends at the Rio Grande Adult Community and elsewhere.
