Eloy E. Gomez

Eloy E. Gomez, 84, of Bloomfield went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 09, 2010. He was born on April 08, 1925 in Lumberton, NM to Pedro and Gregorita Gomez. Eloy attended school in Blanco, NM. He proudly served as a radio man on the USS Hopkins and the USS Lloyd E. Acree during the World War II Campaign. After the war, he went on to graduate with his Associates of Applied Science from Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. He later returned to Bloomfield, NM where he went to work for Basin Power and Light-Farmington Electric Utility System as an apprentice lineman and after 32 years eventually retiring as a foreman. Eloy was a lifetime member of IBEW Local 611; a Bloomfield City Council Member; a Volunteer with the Bloomfield Fire Department and he was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Bloomfield. He enjoyed Gardening, Fishing, Camping, Playing Cards and spending time with his family. Eloy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Stella Gomez; his children, Beverly (Gordy) Seitzinger, Eloy Anthony (Judy) Gomez, Irene (Fidel) Gallegos, Garry (Carol) Gomez of Missouri and Jimmy (Tina) Gomez; Brothers, Gilbert, Max and AC Gomez; 17 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren. Eloy was preceded in death by his daughter-in law, Ruth Gomez; Grandson, John Gomez; three brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Ryan Seitzinger, Michael Seitzinger, Lance Bickham, Mark Gomez, Matthew Gomez, Damion Gomez, Paul Gomez, Joseph Vigil and David Vigil. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Eloy’s granddaughters, great-grandchildren and his fellow card players. Full military honors will be provided by VFW Post #2182 of Farmington.
