SANCHEZ - Eloy H. Sanchez, age 85, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, completed his journey on this earth and entered into Eternal Life with the Lord, Monday, February 28, 2011, while surrounded by his loving family. Eloy was a life long resident of Alameda, where he was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. He was a member of S.N.M.DE M.P. No. 2 and was past secretary for 42 years; he was also a member of the American Legion Post 69. Eloy was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, who served his country during World War II and was a Purple Heart, Bronze medal, and Presidential Unit Citation recipient. Eloy is survived at the family home by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Edna Sanchez; his son, Lee G. Sanchez and wife Belinda; granddaughters, Julianne and Brandi Lee. Also survived by daughter, Sally Gutierrez and husband Gilbert; son, Bobby Sanchez and wife Becky; son, Alex Sanchez and wife Sandy; four other grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Eloy will be greatly missed by all. “I love you, God bless you, good night, Grampa”. Visitations will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9502 Fourth Street NW. Service of Christian Burial will be Friday at 9:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Casket Bearers will be Andy Barela, Joe Sanchez, Ronnie Sanchez, Mike Barela, Steve Lopez and Matthew Gutierrez.
