Obituary

NAWMAN, Elwood “Woody” J., 92, of Corrales, NM died Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in his residence. He was born September 8, 1933, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Lawrence E. and Helen D. Nawman. Woody served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Public Service Company (PNM) with 30 years of service. Woody was a 1951 graduate of Plattsburg High School. He was a skilled tradesman in Construction, Plumbing, Electrical, Welding, Gunsmith, and Auto Mechanics. He enjoyed hunting, target shooting, playing pool and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Republican Party, National Rifle Association (NRA) and a staunch proponent of the Second Amendment. Woody was a Christian man and lived a life of integrity, strong work ethic and was a loving husband, devoted father, and loyal friend who would drop what he was doing to help others in need.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Sheila L. (Wren) Nawman; sons Jeff L. (Nancy) Nawman of Corrales and Mark W. (Rosella)Nawman of Albuquerque; daughters Alison Nawman and Lori Nawman both of Rio Rancho. Woody had six grandchildren, Eric Nawman, Amanda (Josh) Farrell, Evie and Carol Nawman, Derek (Stephanie) Doyle, and Robert (Beverly) Garcia; four great grandchildren; Logan and Sami Nawman, Aurora Farrell, and Liam Doyle; and several nieces and nephews.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister and daughter, Kristi.

The family will hold a private internment ceremony with Military Honors.
