Erna White, 93, of Albuquerque passed away peacefully on February 11, 2023. There are no planned services but rather a celebration of life gathering for her immediate family at a later date.
Erna was born in 1929 in Alliance, Nebraska and spent most of her childhood growing up in Marsland and Hemingford. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Nebraska. She married Dallas Leroy White in 1947 and they moved to Albuquerque in 1954.
Erna worked as a manager and a buyer for Paris Shoes as well as the children’s Shoe Circus store for over 40 years. She was very passionate about the shoe industry and always had an eye for quality, highly fashionable shoes for all ages. She also helped children and young adults with orthopedic shoes the company specialized in. She won Manager of the Year at the Winrock Mall and was cherished by her long-term employees.
Upon retiring, Erna loved to travel. Some of her favorite places included, Rio de Janeiro, Europe, Hawaii, The Caribbean Islands, Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada, as well as a bridge tournaments in Mexico. She also dearly loved her grandchildren and was able to take them on memorable trips as well as be a part of their daily lives growing up.
Erna was proceeded in death by her husband Dal and her parents Clarence Ball and Florence (Wohlers). Survivors include her son Randy White of Albuquerque, granddaughter Kate Van Winkle and husband, Tyler and their children Benson and Bailey of Canyon, Texas, and grandson Justin White and wife, Mariah of Bosque Farms, NM.
