Ernest M Miranda

May 16, 1926 — December 9, 2021

Our beloved dad and grandpa, Ernesto Moya Miranda, has left this place on earth to join his loving wife in heaven for eternal rest with our Heavenly Father. He was surrounded by his loving family at home, as he took his last breath.

Ernesto was born in Artesia NM and was raised in Lincoln county, specifically White Oaks, and Carrizozo where he attended his early years of school. At the age of 12 he was sent away to be a shepherd but returned a few years later to continue his schooling. In high school he played for the basketball team and also worked at the local drugstore. At age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served as a hospital apprentice first class. Ernesto was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to reside in Carrizozo. Shortly after returning home, he met the love of his life, his beloved Mary, whom he wed in 1947. Together they soon began to build a beautiful life and family. In 1951, they relocated to Alamogordo, NM where Ernesto worked at Holloman Air Force base refueling planes until retirement in 1985.

Ernesto was a very hardworking and proud man. He was a phenomenal provider to his family. He was a driven man who took on many projects and worked until it was complete. As the family continued to grow, he built onto his existing home to assure his children were well cared for. He exemplified what it meant to selflessly love by constantly providing for his children in whatever way was possible. He raised his children well and ensured that they were always respectful and well disciplined. He often would dedicate the weekends to spend quality time with the family, taking them hunting, camping or picnicking.

After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Belen, NM. where they lived for 15 years. He took up golfing, and successfully shot his one and only hole in one. He also learned how to carve furniture and work with leather and made many beautiful pieces of furniture and drums.

In 2000, they moved to Albuquerque where they continued to enjoy retirement, by continuing with his hobbies and going to the casino to play blackjack. He always looked forward to his meals his wife would prepare, and thoroughly enjoyed his coffee and homemade desserts.

Although he was a man of very few words, his family new how much he loved them. He was always very grateful to God for his wife and children. Our family was blessed to have had such wonderful man as our dad.

Ernesto was preceded in death by his step parents, Antonia and Candido Miranda, his mother Ana Maria Moya, his brothers Thomas Serna, Alex Serna and Felipe Villescas, a grandson Adrian Telles, and his loving wife for nearly 73 years Mary Miranda.

He is survived by his children David, Ernie and wife Irene, Benny and wife Nora, Robert, Daniel and wife Virginia, Corine Sena and husband Ken, Cecelia Telles and Vicky Ortiz and husband Glen, his grandchildren Chris, Julian, Ernie, Anthony, Benji, Brandon, Bryan, Tanya, Shannon, Crystal, Danielle, Samantha, Matthew, Christina, Christopher, Nicholas and Jonathan, and 31 great grandchildren.

Pall bearers will be Chris Miranda, Julian Miranda, Robert Miranda,  Matthew Miranda, Christopher Ortiz, Nicholas Ortiz, Jonathan Ortiz and Johnny Rice.
