Ernestina M. Carrasco

Mrs. Ernestina M. Carrasco passed away peacefully on October 9^th, 2022, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, at the age of 92 years old.

Ernestina is survived by her sister Amelia Castillo and family of El Paso, Texas, Mendez nieces and nephews of New Mexico, Colorado and California, son Joseph M. Carrasco of Rio Rancho, NM, grandson Carlos J. Carrasco and his family of Rio Rancho, NM, granddaughter Tiana Carabajal and her family of Rio Rancho, NM, grandson David Carrasco and his family of Oregon, granddaughter Telena Carrasco and her family of Oregon,  grandson Sylvester Rueda and family of Carlsbad, NM, daughter Christina McKinnis and her husband of Indiana, Carrasco grandchildren and family of Iowa, Carrasco granddaughter and her family of Arizona, Carrasco grandchildren and their families of Texas. Ernestina is also survived by her pet companions Miklo, Abigail, and Weiner. Ernestina is preceded in death by brother Juan Mendez, brother Raul Mendez, her husband David D. Carrasco, son David M. Carrasco, son Samuel M. Carrasco, daughter Cathleen M. Carrasco, son Ernesto M. Carrasco, and by her parents Angelo and Francesca Dallas.

Ernestina was born to Francesca Dallas and Jose Flores on Monday, February 24^th, 1930, in Vinton, Texas. She attended high school in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and received her diploma in 1947. Ernestina attended New Mexico State University and Eastern New Mexico University. She earned her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctorate degree in Education. Ernestina was an educator for the Carlsbad school system from 1970 to 1993. Accomplishments of Ernestina’s include being the best grandmother and special ops. She was a member of the Red Hat Society Rio Rancho, New Mexico, chapter.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 25^th, at Daniels Family Funeral Services – Sara Chapel inside Vista Verde Memorial Park, located at 4310 Sara Rd. Se, Rio Rancho, NM, 87124, beginning at 11:00AM. Interment will take place at 12:30PM. A reception will be held from 1:30PM-5:00PM at 105 Spring Road NE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, 87124.
