McLachlan, Estelle P.
Age 95 of Albuquerque, died peacefully on June 9, 2012, after a
very brief illness. Estelle was born on May 29, 1917, in New York
City, the daughter of Adelle and Edward Pretshold. The family
moved to Pittsburgh, PA where Estelle grew up and graduated
from the University of Pittsburgh in 1938, majoring in Elementary
Education, and began her long teaching career there. After marrying,
and while raising her family, Estelle continued to teach first
grade in several cities around the US and Canada. In Albuquerque,
she taught at Coronado, Yucca, and John Baker Elementary
schools. After retirement, Estelle continued to stay active with the
NM Retired Educators Association, and Alpha Delta Kappa and
Delta Kappa Gamma teaching sororities, where she made lasting
friendships that meant so much to her. She cherished the food times she had
with friends, traveling near and far, always ready for the next adventure.
Estelle was preceded in death by her husband Norman L. McLachlan and is survived by
her son Roderick McLachlan and wife Maria Victoria, daughter
Sandra Dillon and husband Rod, grandsons Donald Dillon and
wife Andrea, Roderick McLachlan, Jr., and Victor McLachlan.
The family hopes that Estelle��?�s friends, colleagues, and fellow residents
of Brookdale Valencia will think of her, remember the good
times, and wish her well on her next journey. There will be a private
family burial at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Daniels Family Funeral Services
