Eulalio Jose Eddie Padilla

Padilla, Eulalio Jose "Eddie" 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Quemado, NM on May 6, 1930 to Prudencio and Lupe (Baca) Padilla. Eddie was a cowboy most of his life and a devoted family man. In his early years, he loved to rodeo and ride bulls and broncs. He was on the last cattle drive ever made from Socorro to Arizona. Eddie was an under sheriff in Socorro County. Eddie even tried his hand at being a jockey. He loved to go fishing and camping and owned his own upholstery shop for many years. Eddie's passion was training boxers, a profession that he spent over 40 years doing. He took in many a kid and taught them how to box and how to become a better person. He also started the Arizona Gym. Eddie will be greatly missed by his family and all of those that he helped over the years. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Melcor Padilla; and Nicky Padilla; his sister, Sally Tourville; and his parents. Eddie is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Bertha E. (Peralta) Padilla; his loving daughters, Charlene Naranjo and husband, Jim; Dorothy Gordon and husband, David; Theresa Archuleta; Deborah Cox and husband, Wayne; and Darlene Padilla; his devoted son, Eulalio "Eddie" Padilla Jr. and wife, Carol; his sisters, Caroline Franklin; and Marcy Brayboy ; 62 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. A Holy Rosary will be recited on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 8:30 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro, followed by a Mass of Resurrection which will be celebrated at 9:00 am with Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Interment will take place in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearer will be Eulalio "Eddie" Padilla Jr..
