Eva Claire Ponder

Eva Claire Ponder passed away at the age of 80 on Thursday, October 25, 2018.  She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 26, 1938 to Chester Earl and Eva Claire Dukes.  A long-time resident of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, she served the real estate community in Albuquerque and the surrounding areas for over 30 years.  Eva will be greatly missed by her loving family and those whose lives she touched.  Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend was embraced by our Lord Jesus Christ and taken to her heavenly home where the angels sing glorious songs at her arrival. 

Eva loved her children, she loved her grandchildren, she loved people, she made people feel special.  She loved to sew, she loved to paint, she loved to garden, she loved to cook her special vegetable soup and beef stroganoff for others.  She loved music, she loved sharing a deep gratifying laugh with those around her, she loved holidays, she loved company, she had the gift of bringing family and friends together.  She loved to have any reason for a get together, she managed events in her own special way.  She loved to watch the sunset from a boat dock, a mountain top or simply from her desk.  She was tough as nails.  She loved to listen, she loved to be the shoulder to cry on, she was the best at bringing out our best.  She was incredibly generous, she was incredibly hard working, and she was the center of our world, as she should be.

Eva is preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Earl Dukes, Jr., and her older sister Frances Brooks. She is survived by her son Brad Ponder and wife Jo residing in Bloomington Springs, Tennessee, her daughter Amy Fralix and husband Dave residing in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, her four special grand-daughters Camee Ponder, Katelin Ponder, Ryann Brown, and Hannah Fralix, and special nephews Bo Brooks and Andy Brooks.

A memorial service and reception will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 10 am at St. John’s Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St., NE in Albuquerque.
