Evelyn Applequist

Evelyn L. Applequist, 85, formerly from Illinois passed away after her battle with bone cancer in her Albuquerque home on July 29, 2014. She was born to the late William and Ebba Brettner, August 19, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois. Evelyn graduated from Steinmetz High School in 1946. She was married to the late Ralph Workman. In 1970 she remarried the late George (Art) Applequist and they retired together in Albuquerque. Evelyn was preceeded in death by daughter Ellen Strader, granddaughter Deena Knecht, and siblings Paul (Jim) Brettner, Bill Brettner, Elmer Brettner, Robert Brettner, and Myrtle Dritlein. Evelyn was the glue for her family. In retirement her fulltime job became helping other people. She was an avid reader who would clip out articles and mail them to her children and others. Her number one priority in life was always putting others before herself. She leaves behind children Ralph Workman, Nancy Bock, Daniel (Linda) Workman, and Linda Rothman as well as Evelyn�s sisters Lorraine Follansbee and Eleanor Workman. She will be missed by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Evelyn�s wish to be cremated was carried out by Daniels Funeral Home.
