Flora Sue Hatley

Mrs. Flora Sue Hatley passed away peacefully on November 18^th, 2022, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 81 years old.

Flora is survived by her son Ronald and his wife Adele of Albuquerque, New Mexico, her son Allen Hatley of Albuquerque, NM, her daughter Faye Hatley Garza of Albuquerque, NM, her son Steven Hatley of Albuquerque, NM, her brother Donnie Long of Texas, her brother Montie Long of Texas, and by her sister Lynn Martel of Albuquerque, NM. Flora is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Flora is preceded in death by her husband Clay Hatley, her sister La Faye Long, her brother Boyd Long, her brother Denny Long, her brother Hayden “Wig” Long, and by her brother Joe Long.

Flora was born Saturday, January 4^th, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Wanda (Nelson) Long and Hayden Long. She attended Highland High School and graduated with her Diploma in 1958. Flora married Mr. Clay Hatley on Friday, December 12^th, 1958, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They were married 45 years and had four children.

Flora was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone Company for thirty years and was also a part of the Communications Workers of America Union during that time. She enjoyed tumbleweed square dancing, reading, chasing George Strait, and being with her family. She was especially gifted at taking care of her family and making sure they had everything they needed.

God saw she was getting tired

And a cure was not to be,

So He put his arms around her

And whispered, “Come with Me”.

With tearful eyes we watched her suffer

And saw her fade away,

Although we loved her dearly,

We could not make her stay.

A golden heart has stopped beating,

Hard working hand at rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us,

He only takes the best!

Services will take place at Daniels Family Funeral Services – Sara Chapel and Vista Verde Memorial Park, located at 4310 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, 87124. A Visitation will take place from 10:00AM-11:00AM. Memorial Service will begin at 11:00AM. Interment will take place in Vista Verde Memorial Park at 12:15PM. A Reception will take place at Evolution Ortho Sports Therapy and Massage, located at 4147 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87109, beginning at 1:30PM.
