Florence Apodaca was born on September 6th, 1927 to Elias and Fulgencia Apodaca in Denver, Colorado. She entered into her eternal rest on December 18, 2018 at the age of 91 years. She was raised in Clayton, New Mexico with along with 11 siblings. She followed her sisters to San Francisco, California in the 1950s where she lived very happily for many years. She worked as a distribution specialist and translator for Furuno Marine Radar Company. She enjoyed “roaming the city” and swimming in the ocean. She spent her last years in San Francisco caring for her eldest sister Alice Gonzales until her passing in 2010. Florence moved from her beloved San Francisco in 2010 to Albuquerque, New Mexico to live with her only remaining sibling, Juliana H. Jarvis.
Florence was known for her sharp wit and clever sense of humor. She was an exceptionally patient listener. In the last few years, she enjoyed the music of Lady Gaga and the Wizard of Oz. She was also passionate about Mexican food and local casinos. Florence was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend to countless individuals. She leaves behind many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. Florence was sincerely loved by her second family at her Beehive residence.
She will be sorely missed by the countless individuals who loved her.
Funeral service will occur on Saturday, December 22 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1001 Meteor Ave NW. Rio Rancho, NM 87114. The viewing will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A rosary will be said at 10:00 AM with the funeral mass following at 10:30 AM. There will be a gathering hosted by nephew Phillip Jarvis and niece Donna Torres at 712 9th Street, Rio Rancho, 87124. Florence will be buried in San Francisco on December 28, 2018.
