Funeral services for Frank Silas Sr., 60, will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 17, at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dorothy Martinez will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery. Silas died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, in Albuquerque. He was born Aug. 5, 1950, in Shiprock, into the Within his Cover People Clan for the Towering House People Clan. Silas attended Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City, Utah and Welding School in Dallas, Texas. He was employed with United Nuclear Company, Arizona Public Services and was self employed. He was a member of the Native American Church. Silas received awards from United Nuclear Company, University of New Mexico and was a certified welder. His hobbies included horseback riding, playing pool, basketball, automotive, being with relatives, friends and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Silas of Pinehaven; sons, Frankie Silas of Gallup, Frank Silas Jr. of Pinehaven, Lorenzo Silas of Albuquerque; daughter, Marlinda (Mars) Silas of Pinehave; mother, Elizebeth Silas of Aneth, Utah; brothers, Hebert Silas, Evan Silas Sr., both of Colorado, Edward Silas, James Silas, both of Arizona, Everett Silas of Shiprock; sisters, Hazel Jones, Mary Jane Clark, both of Aneth, Utah, Elsie Benally, Lillie Burbank, both of Arizona, Ruth Sandoval of Albuquerque, Jessie Silas, Francis Thomas of Farmington; five grandchildren. Silas was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Silas. Pallbearers will be Frankie Silas, Frank Silas Jr., Lorenzo Silas, Cameron Silas, Carmen Silas, Evan Silas Jr. The family will receive relatives and friends following services.
