Frederick John Hiltebrand (81) passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, leaving behind a family who knew him as a man of quiet strength, unwavering reliability, and deep commitment.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Margy; his children, Frank and his children, Elijah and Clara; Matt (Jessica) and their daughter, Kayleen; and Ashlee (Derek) and their children, Kain (Sierra) and Tristan; as well as his great-grandchildren, Leila and Rylee (expected in June). He is also survived by his sister, Bobbi, and her children, Scott and Jeff.

Fred served as an artillery officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1977 and was awarded the Silver Star with Valor and two Bronze Stars for his actions during the Vietnam War. His military service reflected a profound sense of duty that continued to shape his life long after he left the Corps.

Following his military career, Fred worked in business for the remainder of his professional life, bringing the same discipline, integrity, and dependability to his work.

Outside of his career, Fred was a highly skilled woodworker. He built several wooden boats by hand, often giving them away as gifts, a reflection of his quiet generosity and craftsmanship.

More than anything, Fred will be remembered as a man his family could count on. His children and grandchildren sought him out for guidance and support, knowing he would be there with wisdom, steadiness, and care. He was a devoted husband, a generous provider, and someone who stood firmly for the people he loved. His presence will be deeply missed.

Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Daniels Family Funerals & Cremation, 4310 Sara Rd, Rio Rancho, NM 87124, with a graveside service to follow. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
