It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick Karl Kreier, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who left us on March 6th, 2025. Fred was a man whose humor, and love for life and family touched everyone who knew him.
Born on April 29th, 1949, Fred grew up in El Paso, TX. He loved sports and school He played baseball and basketball and attended Irving High School and the University of Texas at El Paso, where he earned a business management and accounting degree. He primarily worked as a grocery store manager.
With a camera always in hand, Fred had an incredible ability to find beauty in the simplest of moments, whether through landscapes, portraits, or candid shots. His work captured the beauty of his family and adventures, making his brother get up early to capture the perfect light or to stay out late to get that perfect shot of the balloon glow. His love for gardening and outdoor yardwork led to amazing images of animals, flowers, and other wildlife/nature photographs.
Another hobby of Fred's was woodworking. His craftsmanship reflected his careful attention to detail and his love for working with his hands. Whether he was working on the entertainment center for Debbie, creating a frame for Nikki's next oversized painting, helping Amanda refurbish pieces, or building her fireplace mantle, he spent time with his family creating special pieces for them.
As a father, Fred was a constant source of support, laughter, and guidance. His wit and humor meant that opening a Christmas gift was never what it appeared to be, you would be lucky if you got what was actually in the box. Apple watches, hidden volleyballs, and an engagement ring inside a giant TV box, he loved giving. He always had a smile or funny face to greet his grandkids or family members and loved and protected us all.
Fred was an avid sports fan. During March Madness the only thing on the TV was the basketball games. Guesses and predictions of which team would take it all were the conversations that dominated the dinner table with his favorites being from Texas or New Mexico. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and while winning was something you couldn't always count on you could count on Fred coaching from the couch or cheering on his team with family and friends.
Fred leaves behind his wife, Debbie Kreier, and her family; his daughter Amanda Teal and her family; his daughter Nicole Sturrock and her family, and his brother Jim Kreier and his family; his grandchildren: Alexandra Farrow, Rowan Farrow, Kai Farrow, Maisie Sturrock, Rylie Sturrock and Charlee Sturrock and his great-grandson Ansel Sturrock, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. He will be joined by his father Amer Warren Kreier, his mother Lavada Viola Kreier, and his brother Kenneth Warren Kreier.
His joking, creativity, and kindness will live on through his children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. A private service will be held to honor his memory. Fred Kreier, you will be deeply missed, but your spirit, laughter, and love will continue on, may you rest in peace.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM, Daniels Family Funeral Services, 2400 Southern Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87004.
